Dental trauma is a complex clinical challenge that often requires a carefully coordinated, multidisciplinary treatment plan. Endodontists and restorative dentists play complementary roles in addressing both the immediate needs and the long-term prognosis of traumatized teeth. This lecture will explore the Endo-Resto teamwork approach, highlighting how collaboration at every stage of trauma care can significantly influence endodontic, functional and esthetic outcomes.
The session will address a wide spectrum of injuries, from crown fractures managed through vital pulp therapies, fragment reattachment, and adhesive composite restorations techniques, to more complex crown-root and cervical root fractures where surgical crown lengthening or interdisciplinary strategies are required.
Beyond the acute phase, the lecture will discuss post-traumatic complications that often demand a combined approach. Conditions such as external or cervical root resorptions, replacement resorption and ankylosis, as well as crown discolorations, present significant biological and esthetic challenges. Determining the optimal timing for intervention and coordinating responsibilities between endodontic and restorative perspectives are key factors that will be explored.
Through clinical examples, the presentation will demonstrate how evidence-based protocols, modern biomaterials, and clear communication strategies form the foundation of a strong interdisciplinary team. Ultimately, the lecture will encourage clinicians to embrace the Endo-Resto partnership, ensuring not only the survival of traumatized teeth but also the restoration of esthetics, function, and patient confidence.
