LECTURE TITLE: OBTURATION AND PERFORATION REPAIR FOR PATIENT-CENTERED ENDODONTIC OUTCOMES: UNDERSTANDING BIOCERAMIC MATERIALS AND PROTOCOLS
Bioceramic materials represent a real “game changer” in our daily practice, providing patient-centered solutions from obturation to perforation repair and apical plug. The quality of the obturation has an important impact on the outcome of the treatment. The introduction of bioceramic sealers changed the scenario: thanks to their advanced properties, clinicians can now rely on sealer-based obturation techniques, shifting from warm to cold obturation methods while still achieving high-quality results.
To carry out a proper obturation, it is crucial that the clinician fully understands both the techniques and the characteristics of the materials being used. Perforation repair and apical plug procedures can be efficiently managed with bioceramic putty materials, which are ready to use and easier to apply compared to MTA, simplifying clinical procedures.
This lecture aims to analyze the characteristics, benefits, and limitations of bioceramic materials, enabling clinicians to incorporate them confidently into daily practice and achieve predictable outcomes, even in cases with periapical lesions. The goal is to provide participants with detailed protocols and practical tips for achieving consistent, high-quality obturation, ultimately improving long-term, patient-centered endodontic outcomes.
